The hardness of the metal you propose to cut will influence your selection of blade material. For softer metals or thin sheets of metal, a steel blade would most likely be appropriate. Harder metals or thick sheets would require carbide. Depending on your preferences and budget, you may opt for solid carbide or carbide-tipped cutting blades. In most cases, there is little discernible difference in the performance of solid carbide and carbide-tipped cutters.
