Ultrasonic Blades

Ultrasonic Blades

Once reserved mainly for surgical application, ultrasonic blades have recently made their way into a growing number of industries, including food services, plastics and textiles. At Carolina Knife Co., we specialize in manufacturing and sharpening a number of specialty cutters, including hot cut assemblies and ultrasonic horns and blades for ultrasonic slitting. If your cutting needs call for a high grade of delicacy and precision, with very little residue, ultrasonic blades may be the answer.

For textile manufacturers, there are basically two modes of operation for an ultrasonic cutter: plunge and continuous. If you need to cut and seal fabric edges at the same time (for example, in creating a buttonhole), you will use the plunge mode, using the ultrasonic horn to seal the edges of the material as you cut. If you are slitting in the continuous mode, the horn remains stationary under the fabric, and the ultrasonic blade allows you to make a clean cut without fraying.

Having Your Ultrasonic Blades Sharpened

Even ultrasonic blades need sharpening, and there is no better place to have them serviced than Carolina Knife Co. We have two domestic sharpening facilities, allowing us to post some of the fastest turnaround times in the industry. Not only do we provide prompt sharpening on a regular basis, but we can also offer one-day emergency sharpening.

Our sharpening process is highly regimented to ensure quality and precision. Your ultrasonic blades will be re-ground to an "Ultra-Finished" edge, removing only a minimal amount of stock to preserve their longevity. Strict records of all maintenance work are kept so that we can track when your blades are due for sharpening.
